Homework between Sessions 1 & 2:

  • Write down your earliest memory of a race different from your own. What feelings do you associate with that memory?
  • Name 3 other encounters you have had with the opposite race from you (African-American or Caucasian). Attach feelings to each of those encounters.
  • Give your definition of racism.
  • Have you ever been on the receiving end of your definition of racism? If so, explain.

Homework between Session 2 & 3:

  • Bring in a current article from a magazine or newspaper that deals with race.

Homework between Sessions 3 & 4:

  • Be thinking about what you can do in your sphere of influence to end racism, one person or one institution at a time.
